Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"My partner and I went to Takimi Mazesoba after reading all the good reviews. The fry chicken and prawn were very good, yummy hand made noodles. Highly recommended."
"First time trying mazesoba and it was quite enjoyable. The noodles had a nice chewy texture, and I liked it even more after adding extra chili oil for that spicy kick. The ramen was decent , the noodles were slightly thicker, and while the broth was tasty, it wasn’t too special. The gyoza, on the other hand, was really good. Crispy skin with a nice bite, and the dipping sauce had a unique flavor compared to the usual ones I’ve tried. Overall, a good experience and still an enjoyable meal."
"Lucky we got there just after lunch time opening coz all seats taken so quick. The food was good, glad it was less oily than I had expected. Just enough size for me."
"Second time here and it’s just as good as I remembered — absolutely delicious! The mazesoba is packed with flavour and perfectly balanced. The beef is super tender, and once you mix in the egg yolk, it takes everything to the next level. Rich but not heavy at all. Great atmosphere, quick service, and consistently high quality. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to. Highly recommended!"
"Tried Takimi Mazesoba in Takapuna and really enjoyed it. The mazesoba was flavourful but not heavy or greasy at all, so it didn’t feel overwhelming. A nice, relaxed spot to hang out and enjoy a good meal. Would definitely come back."
"This little Japanese restaurant tucked away in an alleyway in Auckland was a really pleasant surprise. Going in, we didn’t have huge expectations, but it quickly won us over. The service was impressively fast, which is always a bonus, especially when you’re hungry or trying to escape the cold weather. The noodles were the real highlight—very unique and full of flavor. What stood out was that they were served without broth, which made the dish feel a bit lighter while still being satisfying. The seasoning and texture of the noodles carried the dish on their own, and it was surprisingly enjoyable, especially for the cooler Auckland weather when you want something comforting but not overly heavy. The atmosphere was simple and unpretentious, which suited the hidden alleyway location perfectly. It felt like one of those spots you stumble upon and feel glad you did. Overall, it was a great casual dining experience with tasty food, efficient service, and something a little different from the usual Japanese noodle offerings. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area and want a quick, satisfying meal with character."
"The dishes here are very tasty. Portion looks small but filling! Been here twice; had the Mage then the Wagyu steak version second time round (launch offer) - I would highly recommend them. Haven't had enough? Go for the Chicken Karaage and Gyoza sides."
"Takimi Mazesoba is a Japanese noodle restaurant specialising in brothless noodle served with special sauce and variety of toppings. Maze means mix, soba means noodle, dinners are supposed to mix all the ingredients before enjoying it. I ordered their top 1 dish - Chashu Pork Mazesoba ($23.5) Ordering + You order at the kiosk and get a buzzer. + Staff bring food to your table. The buzzer doesn’t buzz. (Maybe it’s like when it’s not busy you got table service when it gets busy you pick up your food yourself?) Picking your autistic seat + They have traditional Japanese counter seats. Also there’s a garden dining space shared by multiple restaurants at the end of the restaurant. Garden has this greenhouse glass roof. It feels like outdoor but actually it’s indoor. I love it. It’s a shared space, be aware which part belongs to this restaurant, it’s easy to tell. Water & Napkins + Self-service lemon water. You know Mazesoba is quite a heavy dish, it’s nice they got free lemon water. + Napkins on your table. Food - 9/10 + Noodle is chewy. Toppings are generous. Sauce is delicious. Service - 9/10 Overall I will give this restaurant 5 stars"
